Joy enjoys a morning of tea, cake and celebrations with the Greenways team and her daughter.

Greenways is a village with a proud and rich history. It has been a happy home to residents on the Peninsula for over 46 years.

It has seen many milestones over the years. In the early days, the delivery of new stages. The opening of the community centre. New village managers. Expansion through acquisition. More activities, special events and memorable functions than anyone could count. Even a village wedding!

And Greenways resident Joy Goudie has been there for most. Joy moved to the village in May 1987 and has happily called Greenways “home” for over 35 years. In July this year, Greenways was proud to add another special milestone to the list: Joy’s 100th birthday!

Joy enjoyed a morning of tea, cake and celebrations with the staff team and her daughter. A big celebration with residents is on the cards when the community centre reopens.

Joy has an incredible life story. After training as a nurse in Melbourne, she later designed, built and ran her own private hospital in Boronia. Her contribution to health care and the greater community has been enormous. And, closer to home, Joy regularly makes Lemon Butter with fresh lemons from the tree outside her unit to support Greenways Open Day events. She also makes delicious pumpkin scones for the girls in the office, “the best scones ever!” (according to village Assistant Manager, Lesley Hemingway).

Joy, from all of us at Greenways, thank you for your enormous contribution to village life. You’re a legend!
